How the SAFU fund compares with the reported loss

Nansen and CertiK's CEO put Binance's emergency fund at about $1.16B to $1.17B. Binance puts the loss at about $6.3B and describes its SAFU fund as an emergency reserve fund. CertiK's CEO estimated frozen assets plus the emergency fund would cover about 66% of the loss.

What the evidence does and does not show

Binance says it is covering the loss from SAFU, its corporate treasury and a portion of its Futures insurance fund, and that it will restore SAFU to about US$1 billion. The balance figures come from Nansen and CertiK's CEO, who call it Binance's emergency fund, not from a Binance statement we captured. In the sources captured as of 2026-11-01, Binance has not said how much each source contributed or the minimum balance of the insurance fund.
